Tips for LED Strip Heat-sink Solutions
All about how to tackle the prblem of LED strips' heat dissipation.

NEW YORK, NY, April 17, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In the past decade, LED has shown the powerful potential in the lighting field. LED lights are reputed for its energy-saving and high luminous efficiency. Particularly, there has been a growing demand for LED strips as the lighting source. However, only 15-20% input power is converted into light and 80-85% into heat. If the hot remains in the bulb, the luminous efficiency and the life of chip will decrease at high temperature condition, even the total light may be out of order or damaged.

Therefore, heat dissipation has become the key technology for the LED advancement. Generally speaking, there are three ways to cause this problem: the unsteady current, the improper PBC or static electricity.

To achieve high LED heat dissipation, here are some tips for you:

1. Make sure the voltage and current supplied by the transformer is steady. For instance, a 12V LED strip needs a 12V DC transformer.
2. To choose a proper PCB. Some boards are insufficient to meet cooling needs. So it is advisable to use a LED strip with an aluminum plate, for it has the properties of superior thermal conductivity and heat dissipation. As for the SMD LED strip or DIP LED strip, whose power is relatively low, a thin aluminum plate is needed. For the high power LED Strip, its aluminum plate should be thick.
3. Keep in mind to avoid static electricity when you are installing the LED strip.
