Sollex Products Ltd. Releases Newly Designed Sash Window Lock for Greater Home Security!
A new invention that provides improved sash window lock security for your home and business.

LONDON, ENGLAND, October 26, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If you live in a period property and have ever been burgled, the chances are that inferior window locks were the easy access point for the intruders, according to Bernard Koppes of the London-based sash window manufacturer, Sollex Products Ltd.,who has invented a unique sash window lock for improved security.

As the designer of this sash window smart solution, Sollex Products Ltd. has effectively removed the inherent weaknesses that frequently plagues the traditional design of English sash windows, namely rattling, drafts, poor insulation, snapping cords, and frequent loose locks, as well as, ease of break-in for burglars.

According to the producer and fitter of the new and improved sash window, traditional locks are screwed into the timber on top of both sashes, be it fitch locks or other types. However, as these metal locks rest on softer material (timber), they slowly but surely loosen their grip onto the timber, and almost always become loose. He said they also tend to snap off when serious force is applied to the window from the outside by a burglar.

"However, because of modern thermal insulation regulations in the UK, Bernard Koppes argued that the glazing units have now become much wider in its application. "As a result of double glazing requirements, this has left even less space for the locks on the sash timber bars, thus making them even more prone to snapping off," he said.

In response to this industry shortcoming, Sollex Products Ltd., has designed a smart solution to this longstanding issue.

"An L-shaped 1 mm-thick metal plate is fitted on the edge of the top sash lateral bar, inset into the timber and painted in white. The metal plate is flush with the timber, and is not visible. The back bit of the lock is screwed onto this metal plate, making all lock/timber friction impossible," the sash window expert explained the newly designed solution.

Further to the above, the metal plate is also screwed onto the timber from the front (twice), so this gives the lock maximum base strength. "Snapping off, even under extreme weight application from outside, is practically impossible," said the Sollex sash window security expert.
"We have tested it with a weight of 150kg, and the locks did not buckle," he added.

The new invention, designed and owned by Sollex Products Ltd., is only available through www.sollex.co.uk and nowhere else in the UK.

"In combination with Sollex's secured-by-design fitch locks, these are most likely the safest and most resistant timber sash windows in the country," Koppes concluded.
